Top Attractions To See In Torquay (all Squeezed Into One Day)

Arguably the most popular & visited of the three Torbay towns, that describe themselves as the ‘English Rivera’.

Torquay has some good beaches to enjoy and also offers the standard English seaside experience of tea rooms and sea-side amusement arcades.

A holiday in Torquay should include a visit to the jubilant harbour area, littered with nice restaurants, pubs and other convenience eateries. It can get quite lively at night time.

What To Do In Torquay:

Babbacombe Beach has a nice harbour and seaside area and is covered by steep hills which offer excellent views of the coast, both by night and day.

Babbacombe Model Village is a charming miniature village containing thousands of buildings. A great attraction for kids.
Torquay, Great attractions with wildlife in Devon
Kents Cavern is an ancient geological structure and there have been some highly significant prehistoric finds here (some as old as 700,000 years old).

Living Coasts - a wonderful wildlife attraction where visitors can come and see penguins, seals, puffins, ducks and countless other marine life in a natural surrounding.

Torquay Museum - first opened in 1845, Torquay Museum is worth a visit to discover a wide range of facts about the town. There are exhibitions about everything from history and archaeology to pottery.

Compton Castle - About 5 miles west of Torquay lies Compton Castle which was built in stages from the 14th to 16th centuries. The castle itself is a notable attraction but the surrounding grounds are also very popular with tourists because of the feast of lush flowers, shrubs & trees that inhabit it.

Paignton - About a 15 minute drive from Torquay is the coastal town of Paignton. If you’re in Torquay, it’s certainly worth visiting Paignton too. Though many argue that it’s a low-class version of Torquay, there are some nice attractions including a fair seaside resort, zoo, and the impressive Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway. A mere five miles from Paignton is the wonderful little town of Brixham - it’s a highly popular place with tourists and it’s not difficult to see why - narrow, steep streets brimming with character and a cosy harbour just two of the things that visitors flock to see every year.

Why Do People Play Car Racing Games?

Racing Games

If you want to play speed racing games then there is plenty of opportunity to do so on the internet. There are free downloadable games on many of the game sites; all you have to do is download a plug-in. Before you download this from any site you should check out the site’s credentials. Most sites are above board but occasionally plug-ins from an unknown source can mess up your computer. Having said that, most available downloads are acceptable and there are plenty of these speed racing car games around.

Racing games can be so realisticSome Racing games can be so realisticRacing Games can be so realisticsites offer free downloads, and once you become an expert in one of the games, then you can go onto the next level and get another download. Car racing games attract people of all ages, shapes and sizes, because everyone likes the idea of speed, even if it is only from the safety of their computer. Every day car racing games are becoming more sophisticated and it is possible to get games where you can customise your car or trade it in for another. It is almost as if the car racing game industry is doing its best to get as close as possible to the real life experience of buying and driving fast cars.

Car racing games actually predate computers and they first started to appear as arcade games in amusement arcades in the 1970s. By the mid to late nineteen eighties we got the first computer and games console racing car games. Sega’s Outrun game produced in 1986 is seen by many as the forerunner of most of the car racing games that we see today because it had outstanding graphics for its time. By the mid nineteen nineties car racing games had really taken off and games manufacturers were keen to emulate the 3D graphics and realistic feel that had been the preserve of the arcade games.

In modern car racing games it is not just the vehicle and the speed that is important. Games producers now bring in cities so players can for example experience driving through the simulated streets of New York or Chicago. Backgrounds and surrounding areas now have an increasing importance in the car racing games world. You get races taking place on windy roads, on racing circuits and on highways. Games producers go all out to try and make the experience of car racing games as realistic as possible. Games racing aficionados can’t wait to be the first to have the latest car racing game. Some of the races take place on the roads, and some off the road. With off road car racing games players can also experience the dust flying up and around as they play their game, which adds to the excitement that comes from spills and the thrills of such games.

Some of the racing games are futuristic where players race in an imaginary world that doesn’t have the same physical constraints that exist in the real world - and one wonders where the car racing games will go next.

Slot Machine History And The Online Slot

Slot Machine History And The Online Slot

Slot Machine Origins

Slot machines have been entertaining people from all walks of life for over a hundred years. Known also at one time as ‘one arm bandits’ and ‘penny machines’, the trusty slot machine constitutes a major part of the casino. It is believed that the origins of the slot machine lie in a creation by Charles Fey in San Francisco in 1895. Fey had faith in his first invention and in conjunction with the Mill Novelty Company produced the Mills Liberty Bell Machine in 1905. This slot was a very heavy cast iron machine and the history of the slot machine had begun. The original slot machines featured playing cards on their reels. In the early stages, cigarettes and sometimes sweets were put forward as winnings. In 1910, the Operator Bell machine was introduced by the Mill Novelty Company. This machine was also made out of cast iron and included fruit symbols on its reels. For this reason, slot machines were known to some people as “fruit machines”. Fruit symbols can still be found on some of today’s slot machines. The early slot machines also featured a bell on the top which rang when a winning combination was reached. This element was later discarded, although some of the slot machines located in land based casinos today, are crowned with a bell that rings when the player wins.

Life of the Slot

After its apparent birth in 1895, the slot machine faced a rocky time in its history in the early 1900s when there was conflict and disagreement regarding the issue of gambling. Somehow, the slot machine’s roots held firm and it survived. The 1930s brought around somewhat quieter slot machines that earned the name the ‘Silent Bell’. The 1970s saw the first electronic video slot and during the 1980s, the first video poker machines arrived on the scene. In the mid 1990s, together with the appearance of online casinos on the Internet, online slot machine games surfaced, almost as a natural development for the time.

Slots Move Online

In online slot machine entertainment, the notion of the game remains the same. The slot has kept faithful to its origins and the game has just been adapted for use via the Internet. As an online form of amusement, certain elements had to be altered, such as the insertion of a coin. However, today’s top quality casino software offers slot machine games with bright and sharp graphics enhanced by realistic sound effects. An important feature of the current slot machines is the random number generator (RNG) that ensures that the play is random and that the player receives a fair game and chance of winning. Online gaming presents a player with the opportunity to play slots at a time and place of convenience. Many enjoy the pleasure of slot machine entertainment from the comfort of home.

A glance at the history of slot machines demonstrates that this has proved to be a very successful game. Based on a simple idea, the popular slot machine has found a place for itself among the top casino games.

Online Casino Slots V Landline Slots

Online Casino Slots V Landline Slots

As a child growing up in England I loved going to the pub with my Dad and brother. Now, not being able to drink alcohol my brother and I had to entertain ourselves and with my brother being bigger than me it seemed that he always had the more fun. His idea of fun was to torment me. There was one thing that seemed to keep us out of trouble and this always cost my Dad the price of a couple of pints of beer. The one armed bandit, fruit machine or slot machine with all those flashing lights and wacky noises could keep us amused forever.

Being under age we would watch the guys in the pub every time they slipped in 20p or even a high rolling pound and watch the reels spin, the lights flash and the wacky noises ping and wobble while comedic voices informed you of a bonus round you had just entered. We used to watch like hawks at how the game was played.

As I grew up I was fond of playing the occasional slot machine. I had got quite good playing these fruit machines and knew when to play. I won more than I lost so those years watching people play when I was younger paid off.

In the last couple of years I have been experiencing online casino slots games and found them to be quite enjoyable. Just like fruit machines, online slots come in a variation of styles, themes and makes. Playtech, Microgaming and RTG are the major suppliers of online casino software and they do this extremely well.

Slot machines are meant to be fun; they are played more than any other casino game, this is also true for the online casino slots. Lets look at the pros and cons of both land based and online slot machines.

Online Casino Slots

Pros
1/ Great graphics
2/ Play whenever you want
3/ Play for fun or real cash
4/ Dozens of slots to choose from without having to move
5/ Millions can be won on a spin

Cons
1/ No atmosphere
2/ No tricks embedded in the games
3/ Most of the games are too similar
4/ You cant see up the screen to the next image on the reel
5/ No instant payout
6/ Loss of connection

Land Based Fruit Machines

Pros
1/ Tricks embedded to get to bonus rounds
2/ Instant payouts
3/ No connection to lose
4/ More entertaining bonus rounds
5/ Better live experience
6 / Easier to tell when the jackpot is close
7/ The next image on the reels can be seen for nudges

Cons
1/ Maximum Payouts up to 10 - 500
2/ Travel to play
3/ No fun money play
4/ Limited machines to play in the places you play

All in all my experience has taught me that land based fruit machines still have the edge over the online casino slots but this is just my opinion. The online slots that come close to fruit machines are those made by Microgaming which you can read in a forthcoming article.

Blackpool- The Original British Seaside Resort

Blackpool- The Original British Seaside Resort

Blackpool is the UK’s original seaside resort. Since the Blackpool Tower was built and the first fairground attraction was opened (the Gigantic Wheel) in the 1890’s, the town’s popularity has soared, and by 1914 the town was receiving over 4 million visitors, desperate for a slice of the exciting holiday action. Each year, new entertainment businesses were opened along with hotels to accommodate Blackpool’s growing popularity.

Ever since, Blackpool has been a haven for the working class holiday maker. The mile-long strip (from the Pleasure Beach to the Tower) hosts many activities, and looking over the sandy beaches gives visitors the best of both worlds. Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a theme park not for the faint hearted- the Pepsi Max Big One is situated here, which in itself brings thousands of tourists to Blackpool, being one of the most famous roller coasters in the world. Just across the road there is the Sandcastle Water World, an indoor water park with several slides and a fantastic artificial wave simulation. Further down the road there is the legendary Louis Tussauds wax works as well as several amusement arcades, fortune tellers, and then finally the world famous Blackpool Tower. It is easy to see why this resort attracts so many visitors each year; its versatility and energy is second to none.

Blackpool’s versatility means that thBlackpool Pleasure Beache city not only attracts families, but also groups of adults. Over recent years, there has been a craze which has dominated Blackpool’s nightlife- stag and hen parties. As well as the other attractions, Blackpool also boasts hundreds of pubs and clubs, making it the perfect spot for adults to let their hair down. More and more of the Blackpool hotel trade is coming from stag and hen parties, much to the dismay of families, whose idyllic portrayal of this family resort is being ruined by the site of hundreds of drunken parties. It has been said that the numbers of families visiting Blackpool has dropped 17% in the past year because of the increasing popularity of its nightlife. This is a shame to many as Blackpool has been family orientated for over 100 years, and in such a short space of time it has changed to being the stag and hen capital of the UK.

Even though this point is prominent in Blackpool’s modern culture, stag and hen parties tend to be kept until the weekend. Of course, the town will be hit with these parties during the week, but the numbers significantly drop Monday-Friday. If you want to visit, the calmer time would be during the week, where the family atmosphere is still very much apparent.

Looking Back To Some Classic Arcade Games

Looking Back To Some Classic Arcade Games

A kid asks his dad. ‘Dad, how did arcade games look like during those times?’

The father replied, ‘Well son, at the moment arcade games are fantastic. But I tell you son, twenty years ago I did play Pac-man and Pong.’

Isn’t it great to think that even our parents also played arcade games? Imagine this, parents during their teenage days grabbed every chance to brush up with his or her joystick skills and wrestled with the arcade game for dominance.

Arcade game companies started during the midyear of 1960’s and continuously grew up to the present time. They all transformed arcade games into a much more significant direction.

Arcade games since they were established, have become one of the fastest growing and profitable industry technology sectors. For the past several years, the arcade game was made simple and plain.

Now going back to the classic arcade type of game, what was the scenery like in the golden age of arcade games?

During the early times of the arcade games, the games backgrounds did not use any Macromedia Flash Software or Java Sun Plugging. The setting was only made basic and simple.

There were only few games that used web browser during those times. The most common type of games was leaning towards more on funny and humorous kinds like ‘Swat the Clown’.

At the present times, the golden era of the arcade games is republished on some arcade websites. Most of the websites that reinvented retro arcades have captivated the mid 60’s and 70’s arcade period.

As a matter of fact, parents can still enjoy the classic board games like Stratego, Shoot them Up, and on to casino games and puzzles.

During the premature time of arcade games, the multiplayer game was set for one player only. On the other hand, during those times there were also multiplayer games but only for limited number of players.

A casino game is also the peak rank when it comes to classic arcade games. Nowadays, it is also updated over the net continuously. Grown-ups can enjoy the chance to gamble without the financial risks or gains. The classic arcade game is still there like poker, lucky 9, black jack and other casino games. It is very economical because the player is not going to spend a single cent.

Another game is Falling Asteroid. This game is one of the oldest invented arcade games. This game is all about trying to maneuver falling debris coming from the outer space. This game also has a new type of version. The new version follows the trend that the retro setting has. The asteroid is still falling and the player can still drive his ship away to the outer part of space.

There are also some classic games that are still alive nowadays. Games like Prince of Persia, Donkey Kong, Frogger and dozens that once invaded arcade’s kingdom and barrooms are still kicking some joysticks.

Puzzle games overload the classic arcade games. With such games like Tetris, Connect 56 and Strategy War bumping the line edge of the classic board amusement.

Sports games never stop to amuse and entertain its players. Classic games like gold racing, skate boarding and sliding can still be played at a lot of places and of course online.

It is never too late to play those classic arcades games again, and believe me, it is a lot of fun!
